Alliance Athletics Sun Run InTraining Clinics have started at 70 plus centres in the Lower
Mainland as well as Penticton, Kelowna, Kamloops, Bowen Island, the
Sunshine Coast and Squamish. Thanks
to SportMedBC’s InTraining Program Coordinator, Olympian Lynn Kanuka, the programs have been updated and improved. The revised training
programs provide greater variety and more gradual progressions. There are training groups that suit the needs of walkers and runners of all
abilities. These clinics are carefully designed for anyone, from the
beginner to the experienced runner with a desire to improve their 10K
times.InTraining welcomes children 13 years and older who are accompanied
by a parent/guardian at many centres. Please confirm availability
before registering.
Whether you're a runner or a walker a Sun Run InTraining clinic can
help you reach your fitness goal in a safe and supportive environment.
The three 13-week InTraining programs designed by SportMedBC start off
slowly and gradually build strength and stamina. The focus is on
improving your overall health and fitness while keeping you injury
free.
Registration InTraining clinic registration is
a two part process: You MUST first register at the clinic location of
your choice in person or by phone, and then complete either an online
or paper Sun Run entry form. Your Sun Run entry fee is included in the
clinic fee. You will need a password to complete the online entry form.
Please check with your clinic centre or your clinic coordinator for the
password. Last day to register is February 2, 2008.

InTraining Programs
New for 2008 -NORDIC WALKING CLINICS The Vancouver Sun Run is proud to be the first Canadian road race to include Nordic Walking. In association with SportsMedBC and Exel, Sun InTraining will launch three Nordic Walking clinics. A fantastic cardiovascular actitivity that works your entire body; clinics include coaching from trained leaders, use of Exel poles and the motivation of training with other Nordic Walkers. Registration is limited to 50 participants at select community centres. Spaces will fill up fast - register soon.
Walk 10K Whether
you are a beginner or an avid walker, this program will provide you
with a comfortable progression of distances and change of pace sessions
while ensuring you progress at your own comfortable level.
Learn to Run 10K If
you would like to run a 10K but you've never run before, or if you have
not done any running for three months or longer, this program is for
you.
Run 10K Faster To
sign up for this program you should have completed the Learn to Run 10K
or be running two to three times a week on your own for at least 30
minutes. This program will add variety to your training and help your
run a little faster and feel more comfortable when you run.
